Osama bin Laden is dead.

The terrorist leader "Osama bin Laden is dead." I heard this sentence repeatedly in the from news reporters through radio and television. At first I didn't mind hearing this. It was like there is no impact but later on I remember what had happened in the US more than ten years ago. I started focusing on the reports, got curious and research more over the net. So it is true, "Osama bin Laden is dead." A lot of people are rejoicing. Several groups are not glad. In my heart I am partlyhappy. I could not explain why but maybe because the 9/11 has lost a lot of people.

Click the link below to know more about the death of Osama bin Laden. Its an article in TIME magazine.

Did your world change when Osama bin Laden died?

So he is dead now. What else can this man do? Or his followers do? Is he still a threat? How did all these events affected you as an ordinary individual or a person who doesn't live in the United States? I am partly glad that he was siezed or more ... dead now to give justice to the victim. Are you in the other way glad that he is gone?

There are many questions that linger in my thoughts. Could these questions be helpful? Am I really affected about the world was celebrating? Would there be changes in the economy? I am thinking maybe I should be afraid now. Maybe this is the beginning of a peaceful life or just another warning to start attacks.

How about you? Were you ever affected? Did you celebrate? Were curious how he was killed? Did you reseach more to make sure that he is already gone? Were you courages enough to look at his pictures when he died?

An Apple a Day

An Apple a Day
(poem/rhyme)

An apple a day keeps the doctor away
Apple in the morning -- Doctor's warning
Roast apple at night - starves the doctor outright
Eat an apple going to bed - knock the doctor on the head
Three each day, seven days a week - ruddy apple, ruddy cheek.

An Apple a Day Nursery Rhyme / Poem

The simple meaning behind the sentiment expressed in 'An apple a day' poem is one to encourage the child to eat healthily and wisely that is An apple a day! Although perhaps 'Doctor' could be replaced with 'Dentist' in a modern day version of this poem of "An apple a day" - delicious! The author of the poem "An apple a day" is unknown and the first publication date has been untraceable. (www.rhymes.org.uk)

Never Had A Dream Come True

  • There are two videos of this song where you can both sing-a-long with or without vocals.
Never had A Dream Come True
S Club 7

Ooh...

Everybody's got something they had to leave behind
One regret from yesterday that just seems to grow with time
There's no use looking back or wondering (or wondering)
How it could be now or neither been (or neither been)
All this I know but still I can't find ways to let you go

Chorus
I never had a dream come true
Till that day that I found you
Even though I pretend that I've moved on
You'll always be my baby
I never found the words to say
You're the one I think about each day
And I know no matter where love takes me to
A part of me will always be with you

Somewhere in my memory I lost all sense of time
Amd tomorrow can never be
'Cause yesterday is all that fills my mind
There's no use looking back or wondering
How it should be now or neither been (or neither been)
Oh this I know but still I can't find ways to let you go

Chorus

You'll always be the dream that fills my head
(Yes you will, say you will, you know you will, baby)
You'll always be the one I know (I'll never forget)
There's no use looking back or wondering (or wondering)
Because love is a strange and funny thing
No matter how I try and try
I just can't say goodbye
No no no no

Chorus

A part of me will always be with you...

I am popular too!

Tongue twisters are both educational and amusing.  These had been written a long time ago and been handed to us from generation to generation.  These are not only practiced by children but also by adults.

Here is another tongue twister that is also as popular as Peter Piper. This concentrates on the sounds 's' and 'sh'. Pronounce each word as clearly as possible as you recite them as fast as possible.

She sells seashells by the seashore.
The shells she sells are surely seashells.
So if she sells shells on the seashore,
I'm sure she sells seashore shells.

One sentence

Question: "What's the word for a sentence which contains all the letters of the  alphabet?"

Answer:  Pangram.

PANGRAM is a sentence or verse that contains all the letters of the alphabet.  The sentence below is the best known pangram that contains the 26 letters in the alphabet with a total of 35 letters.

"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."

A perfect pangram is a sentence that contains all the alphabet that is mentioned only once.  There are several sentences made but nothing makes sense.  They are mostly collection of words to form the sentence and make a pangram.  The sentence below beat the sentence above that contains only 32 letters.

"Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs."

I Need To Be In-Love

I Need To Be In-Love
Karen Carpenter

The hardest thing I've ever done is keep believing
There's someone in this crazy world for me
The way that people come and go through temporary lives
My chance could come and I might never know

I used to say "No promises, let's keep it simple"
But freedom only helps you say goodbye
It took a while for me to learn that nothing comes for free
The price I paid is high enough for me

* I know I need to be in love
I know I've wasted too much time
I know I ask perfection of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think that's what I'll find

+ So here I am with pockets full of good intentions
But none of them will comfort me tonight
I'm wide awake at 4 a.m. without a friend in sight
I'm hanging on a hope but I'm all right

repeat *
repeat +
repeat *

Trivia
  • In the August 2 1976 People magazine, John Bettis (co-writer with Richard) says the song is "autobiographical for all three of us."
  • In the notes to the Carpenters: The Compact Disc Collection, Richard Carpenter wrote:  Two songs stand out for me: I Need To Be In Love with its melancholy John Bettis lyric. This became Karen's favorite Carpenters song...

Tongue Twister 101

This is an introduction to the new trend.  Every Thursdays of the week, this blog will be featuring "Tongue Twisters."

"Tongue Twister" is a phrase that is designed to be difficult to articulate properly. Many tongue-twisters use a combination of alliteration and rhyme. They have two or three sequences of sounds, then the same sequences of sounds with some sounds exchanged. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki)

"Tongue twister" is a great twist to make learning words or language fun.   These are collection of tricky rhymes or phrases that are recited as fast as possible without tripping over the verbal challenges and hurdles lurking within these tongue-tying sentences.  The "tongue twister" have several uses.  It can be for school purposes to help the students in their pronunciation. English tongue twisters may be used by foreign students or people learning English as a Second Language to improve their accent.  Another purpose is for actors who need to develop a certain accent.  A serious purpose is used by speech therapists to help people who have speech difficulties.

The tongue twisters are generally subdivided into categories classifying them by the particular vowel or consonant sounds they exercise. The Peter Piper twister, for example, clearly provides practice for the 'p' sound.  Another popular twister is "She sells seashells by the sea shore" which concentrates on the practice of the sounds 's' and 'sh'.

Here is the first tongue twister exercise.

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
Did Peter Piper pick a peck of pickled peppers?
If Peter Piper Picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?

The Most Important People In You

Pay attention to the important teachings in life this man is saying. His teachings are very cool, straightforward and true. This video always inspires me and wakes me up to be more productive and to care for people. Watch and listen to what he said to find out what I'm talking about.

Knowledge does not become power until its used.
Ideas without action are worthless.
If you want one hundred years of happiness, you grow people.

Big Big World

Big Big World
(by Emilia Rydberg)

I'm a big big girl
in a big big world
It's not a big big thing if you leave me
but I do do feel that
I do do will miss you much
miss you much...

I can see the first leaf falling
It's all yellow and nice
It's so very cold outside
like the way I'm feeling inside

I'm a big big girl
in a big big world
It's not a big big thing if you leave me
but I do do feel that
I do do will miss you much
miss you much...

Outside it's now raining
and tears are falling from my eyes
Why did it have to happen?
Why did it all have to end?

I'm a big big girl
in a big big world
It's not a big big thing if you leave me
but I do do feel that
I do do will miss you much
miss you much...

I have your arms around me warm like fire
but when I open my eyes
You're gone...

I'm a big big girl
in a big big world
It's not a big big thing if you leave me
but I do do feel that
I do do will miss you much
miss you much...

I'm a big big girl
in a big big world
It's not a big big thing if you leave me
but I do feel I will miss you much...
miss you much...
