How to help your child with English? Before I share my ideas to help a child with English, I would like to stress the importance of the language. The English language is a very important language to learn especially that we are in a very fast paced world. The world is getting smaller everyday that we meet different people from different parts of the world almost everywhere we go. It is widely used that where ever you go, you can use it not just to communicate but also to earn. It’s a good idea that as young as possible we should start teaching the children the proper English language. Students were taught the language in school but that is only for a short time and not individually. Some may learn it quickly, may not. Teachers provide homework to provide continuity of the learning process.
The first thing I would like to share is to motivate your child to learn the language. Then you support them with their homework. Expose them to English television programs, theatrical shows, sing English songs and books. Find out what he likes to read. Help him develop a reading habit. The more he reads, the more he will gain knowledge. Buy some instructional books with CDs or tapes that he can listen to when at home. Encourage your child to join English competitions. Read with your child, watch with your child and the last is speak the language with your child. Practice makes perfect as we say it. Speak English with your child. If you are not good, enroll him in a training center and let him know the importance of speaking English. Help him in every step especially when he is frustrated. Provide him with tools like dictionary, computers and a lesson on phonetics. Let him know that knowledge is power especially the English language.
- I hope this video and article will help all students, parents, and anybody who wishes to learn the English language.
